Truth
Through Trauma
About
Truth Through Trauma was created to bring real, honest and trauma-informed conversations into spaces where young people, professionals and communities need them most.
I'm Kessia Davies, a Trauma-Informed Safeguarding Practitioner and Lived Experience Speaker. My work doesn't sit in one box. It spans a range of safeguarding and lived experience topics, all through a trauma-informed lens. From child exploitation and high-risk youth to identity, domestic abuse awareness, healthy relationships and the realities of system failures - I speak on what needs to be understood, not just what's comfortable to hear.
Everything I deliver is rooted in both lived experience and professional practise. I don't just share my story, I use it as a tool to challenge thinking, build awareness and support real change in how we respond to vulnerability and risk.
I work with schools, youth services, organisations and professionals, tailoring each session to the people in the room. No two environments are the same, so my approach isn't either - it's honest, adaptable and designed to have lasting impact.
At the core of my work is a simple shift: moving away from "what's wrong with them?" to "what happened to them?" - because understanding that difference changes everything.
My Mission
My mission is to challenge perspectives and transform how we understand trauma, vulnerability and exploitation.
Through lived experience and trauma-informed practise, I work to drive real change - not just in awareness, but in how people respond, support, and intervene.
Because when we change how we see people, we change what happens next.
